Biography

Hugh is a pianist, organist and conductor, holding the position of Assistant Master of Music at HM Chapels Royal, The Tower of London, and Deputy Director of Music at Haileybury College.

He is a graduate Sidney Sussex College, Cambridge, where he was organ scholar. Between 2017–2018 he was organ scholar at the Royal Hospital Chelsea. He has recorded on the SOMM and Albion labels, and has performed across Europe, the USA, Malaysia and Singapore.


In 2021, he was awarded the Fellowship of the Royal College of Organists. He has performed recitals in Westminster Abbey, Westminster Cathedral, Southwark Cathedral, St Albans Cathedral, St George’s Chapel Windsor, as well as in Cambridge and Oxford.

Hugh also takes a keen interest in new music and has appeared with the London Contemporary Orchestra at London’s Union Chapel, and the Icelandic duo Jònsi and Alex, with the LCO, at London’s Barbican Centre and the Paris Philharmonie. Recent engagements included a performance of Glassworks with the James McVinnie ensemble
in the Barbican, Saffron Hall, and at Bold Tendencies, Peckham, as well as with Alamire at the Tage Alter Musik Festival, Regensburg.

Hugh is currently studying for a Masters degree at Guildhall School of Music and Drama.
