SUMMARY:Songs of Eden – London Choral Sinfonia
DESCRIPTION:Programme: \nVasara Summertime – Onute Narbutaite \nand the swallow – Caroline Shaw \nTundra – Ola Gjeilo \nCloudburst – Eric Whitacre \nOut of Eden – Edward Picton-Turbervill \n\n  \nMichael Waldron Conductor \nHugh Rowlands Organ \nHannah Watson Emrich Piano \n  \nThe LCS presents a powerful programme of contemporary music celebrating planet earth. As a time of renewal and rebirth\, Easter provides the inspiration for this journey across musical lands and languages. \n\nFrom the Pacific coast and the music of Eric Whitacre\, to the East Coast composer Caroline Shaw\, across the globe to Norwegian Ola Gjeilo and on to Lithuanian-born Onute Narbutaite\, these rich and varied geographical landscapes are brought vividly to life by these contemporary composers. \nThe programme culminates with the premiere of British-born Edward Picton-Turbervill’s ‘Out of Eden’\, an epic multi-movement work which acknowledges and laments our impact on the planet. The piece will take the audience on a cathartic journey from grief and shame to a vision of hope for the future\, of a world made anew. \nThrough inspiring texts\, spectacular instrumentation\, and soundscapes inspired by the world around us\, this concert becomes a call to action – an expression of deep gratitude and love for the earth\, which inspires us to think more deeply about our collective roles and responsibilities in shaping its future.

SUMMARY:The 12 Ensemble: If You Love Me
DESCRIPTION:Hugh joins 12 Ensemble for ‘If You Love Me\,’ a programme exploring the spiritual\, the emotional\, and the sublime through profound string music. \nThe programme features two masterpieces that engage with memory and devotion: Tallis’s gentle anthem If ye love me and Vaughan Williams’s monumental Fantasia on a Theme of Thomas Tallis. The Fantasia is a breathtaking string soundscape that immerses the listener in reverence\, directly elaborating on Tallis’s original melody. \nThe mood shifts to dramatic contrasts: the sacred power of Bruckner’s Ecce Sacerdos Magnus offers solemn majesty\, while Oliver Leith’s Honey Siren provides modern intrigue with its alluring\, mysterious soundworld. \nFinally\, we come to Mahler’s iconic Adagietto from Symphony No. 5: this serene and deeply emotional movement\, often associated with a love letter to his wife Alma\, provides a breathtaking and unforgettable conclusion to the exploration of love’s powerful and enduring themes. \nExperience music that speaks to the heart\, brought to life by the 12 Ensemble.
